Day 9: Rehearsal and joint concert with the Choir of the East China University of Technology & the Choir of Pudong New Area District Government

Today began with a morning rehearsal at the TEI theatre before we departed for the East China University of Science and Technology auditorium, where we had a joint rehearsal with the Choir of the East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST), as well as the Choir of Pudong New Area District Government. All three choirs enjoyed dinner together before performing a joint concert.

Special guests at the concert included John Dai, Prof. Yan Chengzhong, and EJ Zhuang – all from the TEI Group. TEI is a Shanghai based educational organisation and, in addition to giving us the fabulous TEI theatre to rehearse in, the  Chairman Mr John Dai has also generously provided a bus to transport the Choir while we have been in Shanghai. In praise of the UoN Chamber Choir Mr Dai said that a great University does not necessarily mean a great choir however a great choir means a great University.

Also at the concert were Chen Nangang  (Pudong New Area Government Choir : Artistic Adviser, Former Vice-Chairwoman, CPPCC of Pudong New Area, Former Vice-President of Central Conservatory of Music); Hu Xianxiong (Director of the Pudong New Area Government Choir, Former Vice-Chairman of NPC Standing Committee of Pudong New Area); Cai Jing (Deputy Director of the Pudong New Area Government Choir, Former Chairwoman of the Women’s Federation of Pudong New Are); Liu Jianming (Tenor, Secretary-General of the Choir, Member of the CPPCC of Pudong New Area, Vocal Art Director of Pudong Cuture and Art Guidance Centre); and Liu Weili (Logistic Manager of the Choir).

Representatives from The East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) at the concert included Shen Wei ( Vice Party Secretary of ECUST); Jiao Jiajun (Director of Foreign Affairs Office); Chen Lijun (Secretary of Communist Youth League Committee ); Chu Yan (Vice-Secretary of Communist Youth League Committee) and Cao Huaqin (Director of Art Guidance Centre).
The East China University of Science and Technology has sister school relationships with a number of prestigious international research universities including The University of Newcastle (Australia). More information about ECUST can be found at (http://www.ecust.edu.cn/s/2/t/31/main.htm).
